Hyderabad: A couple from Tanzania, who had come to the city for treatment, were caught on Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad with seven live bullets. They were detained for several hours and later let off after questioning. Police said they had a weapon licence in their country and they accidentally brought the bullets here. No weapon was found with them.

The couple, 60-year-old Chande Salum Nbega and 55-year-old Monica Ngenzi came to Hyderabad on February 4 on a medical visa. Around 2 a.m on today, they came to the RGIA to take a Qatar Airways flight to Tanzania.

“During screening of their baggage, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel found seven live bullets in the bag of Chande and they were handed over to us for questioning,’’ RGIA police sub-inspector J Bhaskar said.

Chande was in possession of a bag in which there were seven live bullets of .45 caliber. Police contacted the authorities there and got copies of the weapon licence.
