Toronto: A massive storm in the east is causing delays and cancellations at airports across the country.

The storm began dumping snow in Ontario on Wednesday night and forecasters say up to 15 cm fell in the Toronto area alone. High winds and blowing snow are wreaking havoc on roads and commuters were told to stay home.

At Toronto's Pearson International Airport, 300 of the 1,200 scheduled flights were cancelled Wednesday morning. Pearson is a major hub for connecting flights and the effects of the storm are being felt at airports across the country including Calgary.

A couple of midnight flights to Toronto were cancelled as well as flights to Chicago and Dallas. Arrivals from these areas are also impacted and 2 flights from Chicago have been canceled so far.

Travelers are advised to check departure and arrival times at the Calgary airport before they head out.
