United States of America Travel Advice

Currency of United States Of America
The United States dollar, denoted by USD or the symbol $, is the official currency used in the United States. Commonly referred to as the "American dollar," the currency is divided into 100 cents (symbol ). A further division includes 1,000 mills to a dollar, though this division is largely unknown to the general public and only sometimes used in matters of tax levies. You could exchange your country's currency for US Dollar at major airports, banks and private exchange companies.

The dollar is considered the standard unit of currency in commodity markets across the globe. At the present time, the U.S. dollar remains the world's foremost reserve currency.

Money Exchange
To get the best exchange rate, wait until you arrive at your destination. While most major airports feature a currency exchange desk, you are likely to get a better rate directly from an ATM machine affliated with a major bank.

ATM use
ATM cards most likely to work trouble-free overseas are those with a four-digit PIN number. Since you may be charged a usage fee by both the local bank and your home institution, it's advisable make one large instead of several small withdrawls.

Credit Cards
USA Credit is the main issuer of catalog credit cards. These cards are not your typical credit card because they can only be used at usashoppingclub.com. This is USA Credit online merchandise store. By using the card at the store, you will be given a line of credit. Your payments will also be reported to one major credit bureau, although it is not specified which particular one. These card are targeted primarily at those with poor credit. One of the unique things about these catalog credit cards is that you are not charged any apr. Instead, your minimum balance is higher than regular credit cards. Below is list of cards issued by USA Credit.
  • USA Platinum
  • USA Gold Card
  • Platinum plus card
  • All american gold card
USA Health
Health care in the United States is provided by many separate legal entities. Health care facilities are largely owned and operated by the private sector. Health insurance is primarily provided by the private sector, with the exception of programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, the Children's Health Insurance Program and the Veterans Health Administration.

At least 15.3% of the population is completely uninsured, and a substantial additional portion of the population (35%) is "underinsured", or not able to cover the costs of their medical needs. More money per person is spent on health care in the United States than in any other nation in the world, and a greater percentage of total income in the nation is spent on health care in the U.S. than in any United Nations member state except for East Timor. Despite the fact that not all citizens are covered, the United States has the third highest public healthcare expenditure per capita.

What to wear
  • In USA usually people don't dress up for much, even the theatre.
  • If you're there for corporate reasons or intend to go to church, a suit or smart equivalent is expected, but any other reason for your visit and the choice is yours.
  • There's only one definite exception we've found to this; The Rainbow Room at the top of Rockefeller Center, a brilliant place to spend a romantic evening and view the sunset from but, because their theme is the glamour of a former era, it has a dress code!
  • Eclectic and funky are good in NY too and will help you to blend in. Black and Grey are also great favourites of New Yorkers.
