He was born into a family of subsistence farmers. He was the leading nationalist politician of Central African Republic. He served as the first Prime Minister of the Central African Republic autonomous territory. He was administered by France under the name of Oubangui-Chari. During World War II, Boganda served in a number of missions and after was persuaded by the Bishop of Bangui to enter politics. After World War II, Boganda was urged by the Bishop of Bangui He met with Prime Minister Charles de Gaulle to discuss terms for the independence of Oubangui-Chari. On March 29, 1959, a plane carrying Boganda crashed in Boukpayanga. So on March 29 the Central African Republic remembers the amazing life of Barthélemy Boganda.
