Liberation Day Italy
25-25 April
event image
Each year, on the 25th of April, Italy celebrates Liberation Day, locally known as La Festa della Liberazione.

Liberation Day commemorates the day when Italy was liberated from the direct control of the Allied Forces after the World War II. It is also the date when Italy remembers those who perished in the war. In some context, it also commemorates the fall of Benito Mussolini’s Italian Social Republic in 1945. During Liberation Day, all government offices are closed while a great number of restaurants, shops, and public transportation do not operate. Music concerts, political rallies, and government-sponsored marching parades are common.
