The Overseas Chinese Day of the Taiwan is celebrated on 21st October.

Overseas Chinese are people of Chinese birth or descent who live outside the territories administered by the rival governments of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC). The Chinese in Southeast Asian countries have established themselves in commerce and finance. People of partial Chinese ancestry may also consider themselves Overseas Chinese. To understand it requires an acceptance that is is grounded in a certain cultural legacy containing strong elements of Confucian paternalism, personalistic trust, and drives based on insecurity. In this context, family business overcome their scale limitations by networking, and they do so regionally. That they do so effectively is indicated in the wealth of capital now generated and reinvested in the region.
