Charter Plane Crash in Western Indonesia

Jakarta: On Saturday 12th February 2011 a small passenger charter plane belonging to local airline Sabang Merauke Raya Air Charter (SMAC) crashed in western Indonesia, leaving five people killed, authorities said.

Bambang Ervan the spokesman ofTransportation Ministry said that, "the 28-seat Cessna 212 belongs to PT SMAC and crashed while being on a test flight after an engine had been changed. The aircraft departed Batam island at 0615 UTC and crashed on Bintan Island when it was on a test flight from Batam island. There were five people on board, none of them passengers for the airline."
