Magnitude 4.3 earthquake shakes Mendocino County

California: At approximately 8:50 p.m. Tuesday evening, a magnitude 4.3 quake was felt locally.

The epicenter of the seismic activity was located three miles below the earth's surface in the mountains due East of Lake Pillsbury and 28 miles Northeast of Ukiah, according to the USGS.

Some residents in Ukiah and Willits reported feeling the quake.

The initial tremor was followed at approximately 10:15 p.m. by another 2.8 earthquake from the same location.
